Hello! I haven't written a bio in a long time, so I apologize in advance if this is a rambling mess. :) I am a semi-recent convert to Twitter, but I have greatly enjoyed my time in the social media network. On Twitter, I am spionchen, with the alias of Trinity. In the real world, people prefer to call me Leigh.
I have been a space-lover/addict ever since I can remember. My family lived in Florida during the early days of the shuttle program, and when I was a child, we lived in both Palm Bay and Cape Canaveral. To say the space program was in my back yard would not be an exaggeration. For every feasible launch, my dad would rush me out to the back yard to watch the shuttle soar over the trees on its way to orbit. They were indeed awe-inspiring sights and experiences. Between the launches, landings, and twice monthly trips to the Kennedy Space Center, my love for space and all things NASA was developed. I learned about every shuttle mission and each of the crews, as well as gaining an understanding of what factors doomed Challenger. Most of my early study focused on that tragedy, since Challenger was one of the many launches I did get to see. My family was always supportive of my addiction and gladly added fuel to the fire of my desire to work for NASA and become an astronaut. But my plans haven't quite led to me NASA yet. I am currently a process engineer at Intel in Phoenix, Arizona. I work in the lithography field on the most current microprocessor technologies. It is an interesting job, though one I don't enjoy as much as I should. I hope to return to school for a master's degree and eventual PhD in the very near future. That dream of working for NASA still hasn't diminished.
Outside of space and NASA, my interested are varied. I love reading about different cultures and countries (currently Afghanistan), as well as anything about WWII. I have recently become a very large Marilyn Monroe fan, so any biography about her is on my bookshelf and in my reading queue. I stay as active as possible between hitting the gym, rock climbing, and playing tennis.
I am so glad the Space Tweep Society has been formed, and I look forward to sharing thoughts, experiences, and stories with everyone in the group!
