He holds a B.A. in Political Sicence From Kean University in Union, NJ. Between 1992 and 1995 he had volunteered at the County College of Morris Planetarium under the mentorship of Professor Albert R. Stoner. While at the planetarium, he was instumental in producing plantarium shows, assisting with the planetarium's outreach and public programs and authored a newsletter for the facility. He also served as an intern with the National Space Space Society during the Spring and Summer of 1993.
His memberships include the National Space Society, The Planetary Society, The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and board member of the Ferromonte Historical Society of Mine Hill.
He has also served as webmaster for the New Jersey House Rabbit Society between 2002 and 2003.
He has also re-kindled a old flame, that of appearing in community theater projects. He has had roles in "A Few Good Men" " Coma", "Sweeney Todd,"Last of the Red Hot Lovers", "The Pink Panther", "Rumors" and "Its a Wonderful Life" at Pax Amicus Castle Theater in Budd Lake, NJ. He has also appeared as a cast member in "Frankenstein" at the Dover Little Theater in Dover, NJ and was cast in "Drop Dead" with the Hexagon Players in Mendham, NJ . Most recently, he was the Assistant Director for "The Line that Picked up 1000 Babes" at the Dover Little Theater and had designed the soundtrack for the Jersey Voices One Act Festival in Chatham, NJ.
Currently he is a voluntary member of the NASA COLAB Team. Gene now calls Mine Hill, NJ home although he misses his adopted home town of St Augustine, FL.
