brobof (Real Handle: David G. Lermit) has been a space fan since Telstar. (Alas at age five I failed to grasp Yuri's achievement at the time :( Telstar, however, I GOT! Helped by a catchy electro-pop single along with the broadcast. Then they brought out a comic here in the UK called "Ranger" named after the 'Moon Bombing' program of the era. That folded into "Look and Learn" which reprinted the "Dan Dare" Stories. Alea jacta est. The works of Gerry Anderson and Robert A. Heinlein helped. As did the linkage between my birthsign: Gemini and the fact that they had two of them IN ORBIT. How cool was that... (I think that if they had named it Aries it would have had more support!) Result: I have been seriously addicted to (Hardcore) Science Fiction and Space ever since! Over the years I have seen space advocacy wax and wane. (Pun intended!) If you (America) are to avoid Nixon, Proxmire,.. and all that ALL OVER AGAIN; you are going to have to get your fingers out! It stands for Brother Boring Old Fart. (You have been warned :)
